700ML / 50% ABV.
After initial maturation in traditional oak casks, this whisky was ‘finished’ in a selection of Madeira wine casks from a small, artisan producer. Madeira, an island some 800km south-west of Portugal, produces fortified wine with a sweet, fruity character that shares similarities with the output of a certain island's distillery, some 25km off the Ayrshire coast. This perfect marriage of whisky and wood, results in a single malt full of brooding character, layered with complexity and oozing quality.
Aroma: Rich, sweet fruitcake, homemade marmalade on toast, and chocolate-covered raisins.
Palate: Seville orange, honey, Christmas cake and a hint of almonds.
