This limited edition Cù Bòcan is the result of the marrying of refill Hogshead and refill Sherry butt matured whisky distilled on 2nd December 1988.
This Malt is named after the legend of a ghostly black beast called Cù Bòcan which has stalked residents of the remote Highland village of Tomatin for centuries. The apparition has been rarely sighted but legend has it that once a distillery worker was out walking late when he was relentlessly pursued by an imposing black beast. He felt compelled to touch the beast's black fur only to have the beast dissolve into an inky blue cloud of smoke.
Nose: Delicate campfire smoke and sweet ash give way to stewed pears, Peach Melba and toasted coconut. Hints of fresh cut grass, heather and cereal linger in the background with creamy buttermilk.
Mouth: Candied tropical fruits are perfectly balanced with an earthy peat tang. In time, warming dried fruit, blood orange and a gentle nut note emerge.
Finish: Earthy smoke and oak spice linger with a creamy texture.
