The premium release from a luxury whisky brand. Dalmore Quintessence was finished in 5 different Californian red wine casks selected by master blender Richard Paterson. After its initial maturation in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, the whisky was divided between casks used to mature Zinfandel, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. This was no typical short 'finish' however, as each cask lay for a further 5 years in Warehouse no. 2 at Dalmore before they were married together for this expression.
Nose: Blackcurrants, Demerara sugar, toasted vanilla beans and granny's marmalade.
Palate: Smooth caramel and almonds with a creamy texture and the classic orangey Dalmore character.
Finish: Dark chocolate and coffee, with a hint of white pepper and spice.
